Key Support Areas:

This past year my father passed away, I had sepsis, and my wife and I divorced. At first I wasn't even confident that I needed support, I think my mind was resistant to investing in myself and in my healing, but after my first meeting with Stephanie I knew this was exactly the right fit. I've had 3 sessions and already feel a difference.

Accountant

Stephanie truly listened to my needs. After seeing a therapist for two years, I decided to search for something more aligned with betrayal trauma recovery. When I found Stephanie, for the first time since the affair happened 5 years ago, I felt validated and seen. I allowed myself to cry and process some of the grief and embarrassment. This was the open safe space I needed.

Health & Wellness Coach

Jen

Steph 100% understands what someone who has been cheated on feels like. After a long marriage, and the emotional and mental devastation of an affair, I finally felt validated. She listened in a way that complemented my therapy. I absolutely needed this.

Realtor

Dan

After attending one of Stephanie's retreats, I feel I learned a lot that I can use in the future to help heal and better myself. There was so much knowledge and personal growth information that allowed me to get out of my head for a day. This retreat exceeded my expectations. It was 10 out of 10.

What is Relational Betrayal Trauma?

Q:

Relationship betrayal is a violation of trust by someone close to you, this can be with a partner, a friend or family member. There are many types of relationship betrayal, but my coaching focuses on personal betrayals (as opposed to institutional). Intimate partner betrayal is layered and complex. Our safety net is ripped apart. It can include financial betrayal, emotional and physical affairs, or chronic secrets, among others. These forms of betrayal can happen with a partner, parents, friend or peer, or others with whom we have a relationship with.

Trauma is defined as the way in which our bodies and minds react to an event that is traumatic, in whatever way a person defines that event. Trauma, like repeated long-term stress, manifests itself in our nervous system for long periods of time, through interactions with others, our behaviors and our emotions.

What is the difference between a coach and a therapist?

Q:

Coaches and therapists move along a continuum of results-oriented, psychological skills for facilitating goal attainment while improving the mental and physical health of their clients. More often, coaches help drive future accountability through supporting self-led goals while therapists and psychiatrists look at the past to diagnose and make clinical recommendations.
Coaching has become increasingly sophisticated as it draws from a growing body of evidence-based coaching psychology, modern psychology, adult learning theory, motivational interviewing, and new findings in neuroscience.

Therapists are like the trauma surgeons, emergency room personnel and paramedics of the mental health and well-being community. Coaches have a fully stocked first aid kit and skills to put it to good use, but they are not physicians.

A coach comes alongside their client to brainstorm, provide information, and examine potential decisions. A therapist can do all of these things, but they often also need to intervene at a deeper level to direct care, prescribe behavior and make choices on behalf of their client. A coach never takes that much control over a client’s life. Guide and encourage, yes. Command direction, never.

What are you unable to offer support with?

Q:

Please do not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol during our coaching or supervisory sessions. It is difficult, if not impossible, to have a session worth the devotion of either of our time when you are under the influence. If you are struggling with any substance abuse issues I welcome you to let me know so we can talk about it and work to get you any help that you might need. If you do attend a coaching session under the influence of drugs or alcohol I reserve the right to end the session and you will not be refunded. If you repeatedly come to a session under the influence but do not tell me, or fail to acknowledge that you are impaired if I ask you whether you are, this may result in my ending our coaching relationship.

Will my story be shared with anyone?

Q:

Any information you provide during coaching is confidential. You can share as little or as much as you’d like. Your safety, privacy and comfort are of the utmost importance. Your information will never be shared with anyone, unless the information you share puts yourself or someone else's safety at risk. Our sessions are not recorded, but you may take notes or request a summary be sent of what we discussed. Any testimonials are only shared with your permission.

Do you work with teams/companies?

Q:

I work with a variety of providers when hosting retreats, including breath-workers, massage therapists, sound bath healers, yoga instructors and others. I additionally provide workshops upon request. Hit the Contact menu button to inquire or send an email to info@wildfireretreats.com.
